So, I released PhotoBook 1.1 today.
That’s right, I finally got some time away from school, college apps, and friends (ha) to code! This release has a few major new features, a bunch of little changes of additions, and a whole lot of bug fixes. Most notably, you can now open almost any Facebook photo or album URL in PhotoBook, and I redesigned the photo viewing window to add easier to use slideshow controls.
The vast majority of changes in this release were based on suggestions from users like you. So, keep sending me your ideas to support at caffeinatedcocoa dot com.
I know a lot of people have been asking about Google Importer for Leopard. I have started working on it, but unfortunately it requires a complete rewrite and Apple didn’t add in a nice API to make it easy. You should be learning more about the project soon.
By the way, I got an iPod Touch and it is incredible. I can’t wait until February when Apple opens it up to developers. I’m hoping that means all developers, including starving (pre-)college students. If so, I think PhotoBook Mobile or whatever would be really cool. Let me know what you think.

This is by far the coolest program I’ve seen in a long time. Thanks so much for all your hard work! I love the “View as Slideshow” feature because it does all the downloading first so that I can quickly flip through the slideshow and there’s no wait to load the next picture… really cool! Not to mention the import to iPhoto feature! Thanks again ![]()

I love this app but wanted to mention one buggy thing about it. Oftentimes users will upload photos to their Facebook accounts and they appear in the Albums section but not in their individual Friends section. I noticed this when you organize albums by date (which rocks) to see which groups of photos have recently been uploaded. However, when you go to a particular friend in the Friends section, many times the photos don’t appear and therefore the app seems to either confuse or simply not coordinate properly the photos which would appear fine on their online Facebook profile. Otherwise, I love it!
Oh, perhaps in an update down the road it’d be nice if the size of the profile pictures and album pictures didn’t automatically default to nearly the smallest size possible. Once you launch the app and you go back and forth between Albums and Friends views, it remembers. But when you quit and restart it goes back to really small thumbnails. But it’s just a minor thing.
Thanks for the great design.

Hey nice app. I have been wanting a quality facebook app for the mac, and so far this looks pretty sweet. I found the app on the apple downloads page, although I was searching for facebook apps via google a few days ago and didn’t find this.
From my skimming of your blog, it looks like you go through many steps/problems you worked on or encountered during development, which is cool.
I also appreciate that your app is freeware. When I get some free time, I hope to make a quality facebook app sometime too.
Look forward to checking out the other stuff you have up on your site.
